John- Dan Crenshaw here. This week, I introduced legislation to give ICE more prosecutors to handle the backlog in illegal immigration cases created under the Biden border crisis. I’ve heard from ICE officials that they need prosecutors to work through a backlog of more than 1.6 million illegal immigration cases created by the crisis on our southern border That’s why I am introducing the Surging Prosecutors to Expedite Alien Removals Act. My bill would simply require a 4-to-1 ratio of ICE prosecutors to immigration judges so the Department of Homeland Security is adequately represented in immigration proceedings. While there have been increases in the number of immigration judges, there has not been a corresponding increase in prosecutors. If this doesn’t change, the legal process cannot properly function and illegal immigrants will continue to be released into our country instead of being deported. This is just the latest of several serious legislative proposals I’ve introduced to address the illegal immigration crisis on our southern border. Unfortunately, these bills will never see the light of day as long as Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House.
