Since the passage of the Clean Air Act, California has been allowed to set more aggressive tailpipe emissions standards than the national standard. Now, the trucking industry is suing the EPA to pressure the Biden administration to deny California’s authority, threatening to set back years of progress toward reducing tailpipe pollution.

Submit a public comment to urge the EPA to approve California’s full vehicle emissions waiver authority today!

TAKE ACTION

Friend,

Growing up in California, my sister and I rode the bus to school and back. Two hours each day, Monday through Friday.

It's no surprise that we both developed asthma. Tailpipe emissions -- like the ones from our school bus -- are a leading source of nitrogen oxides and other pollutants that can lead to lung and heart disease.

My sister often had to miss school and was hospitalized routinely for asthma. I'll never forget visiting her at the hospital when we were kids, seeing oxygen tubes in her nose and a machine helping her stay alive.

Tailpipe emissions cause thousands of Americans to suffer this way. That's why we're urging the EPA to grant California's full waiver authority to reduce deadly tailpipe pollution and pave the way for other states to do the same.

Will you sign an official public comment now to urge the EPA to grant California's full waiver authority for vehicle emissions? We'll submit it directly to decision-makers.

The Clean Air Act gives California waiver authority to set its own tailpipe emissions standards, helping to reduce pollution and accelerate the transition to clean vehicles.

But now, the trucking industry is throwing its weight around, suing the EPA to get the Biden administration to partially deny the waiver.

Giving in to the trucking industry would be disastrous for President Biden and EPA head Michael Regan, who have pledged to use their authority to fight climate change and support environmental justice communities who suffer the most from tailpipe pollution.

Will you join us in telling EPA to grant California's full vehicle emissions waiver authority? Sign an official public comment right now, and we'll submit it directly to EPA decision-makers.

We don't have to accept the deaths, the missed school days, and the toll these tailpipe emissions take on our health. Every other Democratic administration in this position has approved California's vehicle emissions waiver in full—and it's time for the Biden administration to do the same.

Thanks,
