Guided by our federal policy priorities, WomenHeart continues to advocate for policies that support women living with and at risk of heart disease. As Congress works toward a broad legislative package this summer, we joined partners in a letter that calls on lawmakers to address widening health inequities by extending access to ACA health plans and Medicaid and passing maternal health policies that address the Black maternal health crisis. We’ve also asked lawmakers to address out-of-pocket costs for drugs covered by Medicare Part D and to expand access to vaccines for adults. At the same time, we joined partner organizations in raising alarm over a lawsuit that threatens coverage for preventive services and immunizations. The case, Kelley v Becerra, challenges cost-free health coverage for preventive services, including screening for hypertension and helping smokers quit, which have been mandated by the Affordable Care Act for over a decade.
