John – we wanted to take a moment to share a few campaign updates directly from HQ. Some of this is good news, and some is a little more concerning, but it's important that you are kept in the loop:

-- Last month, Dr. Mahmood advanced through the top two primary by securing the largest vote share of any candidate in the race.

-- Our Republican opponent Young Kim doesn’t have as strong a grip in our district as she thought. After the primary results were tallied, we learned that two-thirds of local voters rejected Kim in the primary.

-- Election analysts at Politico report that Democrats are closing in on Young Kim. This race is now just one rating away from a TOSS UP.

-- Last week, House Democrats added Dr. Asif Mahmood to their competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program. In other words, the GOP-held CA-40 is now a “must-win” for Democrats in order to retain the Majority.

We are now officially one of the most important races in the country in the fight for House control. But right now, we’re falling short of our July goal of raising $25,000 in online contributions:
