With the midterms barely three months away, our Democratic community is in high gear — fighting to protect our majority and hold the line against the extremist GOP.
But Jack, as we rush support to Democratic campaigns around the country, we’re also looking ahead. Because no matter what happens in the midterms, the moment they’re over, we’re determined to hit the ground running towards the PIVOTAL 2024 elections.
If Trump officially enters the race for 2024 in the coming months, it will be an all-out dogfight from here on out. On top of that, we’ll have his challengers, like DeSantis, to contend with — and we know for a fact that with a presidential campaign in motion, the far-right’s extremism and hate will be more blaring and dangerous than ever.
There’s two things we can do RIGHT NOW to ensure Democrats are on the strongest footing possible for the fight ahead. First, we’ve got to keep pouring heart and soul into defending our majority in the midterms. If we defeat Republicans now, they’ll go into 2024 at a disadvantage — plus, without a Congressional majority, they won’t have the chance to enact national voter suppression laws to stop Democrats from voting.
Second, we need to invest EARLY. With the increased radicalization of the GOP’s base, and increased extremism even at the local level, it’s going to take dogged, diligent groundwork to build grassroots power for local and state-level candidates — and create a strong foundation for Democratic wins up and down the ballot.
We cannot take any chances with another Trump presidency — or copycat extremist policies in the White House. We’re fighting tooth and nail to keep our majority in power in November, and then engage every Democrat in the country to keep Republicans out of the White House in 2024.
