It’s hot out, John.
As we recover from a heatwave with record-high temperatures, one thing remains clear: We cannot build a better Philadelphia without also working to end the climate crisis.
Climate change is no longer a far-off consequence — the climate crisis is here and there is no easy fix. But there are things we can do right now to fight climate change, save money, and improve the lives and livelihoods of the communities most impacted.
On June 23, 2022, the Philadelphia City Council passed Derek’s bill to assist apartment building owners in making energy-efficient improvements.
This legislation will continue to tackle the climate crisis with solutions that help disproportionately impacted communities in Philadelphia. There is still work to be done, but Derek knows this is a worthwhile fight.
If you want to see Philadelphia at the forefront of the fight against climate change, rush a donation to support Derek’s fight for our city. We still need 35 individual donations before the end of the month to meet our July goal>>>

Derek’s proposed bill, which is currently awaiting Mayor Kenney’s signature, would follow the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) model, allowing residential and commercial building owners to borrow money for energy efficiency programs to be repaid over time.
The installation of solar panels, heat pumps, LED lighting and energy-efficient windows would save business owners and residents money while bringing our city’s infrastructure into the 21st century.
Republicans at the federal and state levels are failing to act on this issue — we need strong leaders on the local level who are committed to empowering small businesses while protecting our environment. This is why Derek is working around the clock to find local, cutting edge solutions to Philadelphia’s most pressing challenges — stand with him by becoming a grassroots supporter today.
Thank you for standing with Derek,
