10 Ways that Amazon Violates Human Rights

Friend,

All year we have been sharing ways that Amazon is bad for workers, our planet, and consumers. Today, on International Human Rights Day, we want to highlight some of the worst human rights abuses that Amazon has either directly or indirectly contributed to.

Amazon claims that it prioritizes respecting human rights and the environment in the production of its goods, but actions like sourcing from a blacklisted garment factory, using children to meet the high production demands for Alexa, and pushing back against workers' fundamental right to freedom of association, go directly against that claim.

I know that Amazon can seem like an unmovable behemoth, but with the support of individuals like you, together, we have moved Amazon to reduce its climate impacts and will continue to pressure Amazon to improve all its operations. To strengthen our impact, Green America has teamed up with a coalition of more than 40 other groups to take on Amazon together!

Over the past year, Amazon has made commitments to renewable energy (though not as quickly as we would like), and last month, Amazon disclosed the information of more than 1,000 facilities that make Amazon-branded products. But these improvements are not enough!

Take action: Tell Amazon to respect human rights!

Additionally, check out Green America’s 12 Greener Options than Amazon, so that you can use your purchasing power this holiday season to tell Amazon it needs to respect human rights around the world!

Thank you for your continued support,
