John, the
corporation behind the hugely destructive East African Crude Oil Pipeline
(EACOP) is profiting while the world literally burns.

The French oil giant Total announced a staggering $5.7 billion yesterday
in second quarter profits to shareholders.^1

This is just weeks after deadly record-breaking temperatures in Europe and
Africa. Meanwhile, the dangerous heat in the US right now is causing
wildfires, roads to melt, and more.

The wealthy few in Big Oil, and the banks and brokerages who support them
are raking in obscene profits while tens of millions of people suffer
because of the impacts of the climate crisis they caused. This is wrong.

It’s up to us to put an end to this profiteering at the expense of people
and the planet.

That’s why I’m asking you today to hit back at Total, and help us stop
EACOP.

Without insurance, the EACOP project can’t move ahead, which is why we’re
calling on Marsh, Total’s insurance broker, to drop it. [ [link removed] ]Can you help us
turn up the pressure by sending your own letter to Marsh’s top executives
— including their chief executive officer — demanding they reject EACOP?

If you look only at the news headlines, you might be led to believe this
global crisis is something that just happened. But it’s not that we’re
unlucky. Fossil fuels did this. A handful of wealthy executives did this –
and got rich and powerful while watching our planet burn.

There’s a direct connection between Total and Marsh building a pipeline
and the climate disasters we’re seeing right now — and EACOP will only
make the climate crisis worse.

Total’s planned operations will be devastating, and they only stand to
benefit a handful of wealthy shareholders. EACOP will increase the
severity of the global climate emergency by transporting oil that will
generate over 34 million tons of carbon emissions each year.

The pipeline would open up critical ecosystems in the landlocked regions
of Central and Eastern Africa to commercial oil exploitation^2 -
devastating endangered species, national parks and threatening the water
of 40 million people^3.

Stopping EACOP is crucial and it can’t operate without insurance. [ [link removed] ]Will
you add your name by contacting these three top Marsh executives today?
We've prepped a template to make it easy!
