Hey John,

After a few challenging weeks, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on a
few things.

I’m thinking about how our democracy came dangerously close to falling. If
we don’t work together to stop the spread of the Big Lie and hold those
responsible accountable, we could lose our majorities in Congress to
Republicans and leave our democracy even more exposed during Trump’s next
presidential campaign.

That’s why I am laser-focused on stopping Trump’s allies from gaining
power this November. They’ve made their targets clear: Controlling our
election system, dehumanizing the LGBTQ+ community, taking away women’s
right to reproductive health care, and running a campaign of public
disinformation so thorough that they hope the American people, like
Trump’s extreme MAGA base, will no longer be able to distinguish fact from
fiction.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the approaching midterm elections. We
already know that historically, voter turnout is low. And this means we
are going to have to mount a voter turnout effort the likes of which the
country has never seen. Republicans keep reminding us of the extremity of
their agenda if they take over — prohibiting marriage equality, taking
away the right to contraception, protecting the gun industry over the
lives of our children. We cannot let this become our future.

With a 4-seat House majority and 50-50 Senate, we can’t afford to lose any
seats. And now more than ever, I’m focused on expanding our majorities so
that we can abolish the filibuster and pass crucial legislation that
people are demanding, like codifying Roe into law and doing more to
address the epidemic of gun violence.

John, we both know how important it is that we build the
strongest midterm campaign possible to strengthen Democrats’ voter
mobilization efforts and win these competitive seats.

So I’m humbly asking:
