Can you remember the last time, or any time, President Biden has remarked about upholding law and order across the country? This simple commitment – the foundation of every city, town, and community – has been glossed over too many times over the course of the last year and a half. What does this tell you about the trajectory of our country right now? How does this lack of commitment impact the men and women of law enforcement and everyday citizens? Let me paint the picture for you.
According to a recent Fox News poll, 85% of Americans are concerned about rising crime rates. When it comes to who they believe is best suited to combat rising crime, Republicans have an 18-point lead over Democrats. In 2021, a dozen metropolitan areas across the country broke annual homicide records, and when you look at the entire country, the rate of homicides is up nearly 50% when compared to 2020 according to the Major Cities Chiefs Association.
To add another layer to this concerning trend, there have now been OVER 80 acts of violence and intimidation against pro-life pregnancy centers, churches, and organizations by rogue political opportunists. Attacks against churches and pregnancy centers have been amplified following the Supreme Court’s historic ruling to protect the unborn. Yet, we’ve heard crickets from this administration when it comes to outright condemning these attacks. Again, where is the commitment to upholding law and order?
Think about the men and women of law enforcement who lay down their lives every day in the line of duty to protect our communities. Under President Biden, more police officers were killed in the line of duty in 2021 than in any year since 1995. 178 officers have been shot so far in 2022, and 13 of them have sadly passed away. 57 officers have been shot in ambush-style attacks.
The soft-on-crime policies that have overtaken Washington as of late are pushing our country further and further behind. I’m taking a stand in the People’s House to protect the men and women of law enforcement, safeguard our God-given Second Amendment rights, and ensure that law and order does not turn into a relic of a bygone era.
Letter To America
This week, I wrote a letter to the American people and asked them to take a stand against the Biden administration’s reckless student loan agenda. Since taking office, President Biden has forgiven massive amounts of student loans through backdoors—ignoring the will of Congress and the best interests of taxpayers. My letter details the Biden administration’s strategy to enact retroactive free college through loan forgiveness: from an expensive repayment pause and large expansions made to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program to new regulations for student loan programs that could cost at least $85 billion. Simply put, the President is giving a handout to those who least need it.
North Carolina Continues To Lead
Recently, North Carolina was designated as the top state for business – with the strongest economy out of all 50 states. To put this into perspective, North Carolina experienced 6.7% economic growth and 3.6% job growth just last year. In addition, companies across the state welcomed $3.5 billion in venture capital investments last year – a sizable feat that earned the ranking of 6th in the entire country. It is undeniable that our state continues to lead the pack and set a high standard for excellence. I am very much looking forward to seeing the progress that lies ahead.
