This has been one cruel summer:

  • The U.S. Supreme Court stripped our right to control our own bodies
     
  • 157 Republican House members voted against codifying marriage equality (including my fellow Pennsylvanian, Rep. Glenn Thompson, who just three days after casting his vote attended the wedding of his gay son)
     
  • Extremist Republicans are threatening to further diminish the rights of women and girls by rolling back access to contraceptives

Given their way, these extremists on the other side of the aisle would take us back decades – but I’ll do all that I can to stand in their way.

Friend, this Sunday is my first budget deadline since I was arrested for protesting in defense of a woman’s right to make her own, most intimate healthcare decisions. I’ll be in this fight for as long as it takes, yet that means the GOP will put an even larger target on my back – they want me out of this seat.
