Hi ,

This has been yet another terrifying year for our communities. The hate emanating from the White House, permeating itself into the cracks of our country, will certainly have a lasting impact on our nation. As we continue to see children separated from their parents at the border, thrown into cells funded by private corporations, left without care to live or die, I keep asking myself - are we really going to allow this to be a part of our history?

The CPD Network exists to counter that hate and we won’t allow anyone, especially private entities, to profit from our pain. That’s why we need your help. [Please give now to invest in the future of our democracy and continue protecting our immigrant communities.]([link removed])

When Trump took office, CPD and the [Corporate Backers of Hate Campaign]([link removed]) fought against immigrant detention by holding the banks that profit from the administration’s hateful agenda through private detention centers accountable for their investments.

Since the launch of this campaign in 2017, with continued pressure and an ongoing collaboration with the Families Belong Together Campaign, eight banks (Wells Fargo Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, SunTrust, BNP Paribas, Fifth Third Bank, Barclays, and PNC) have stopped financing private detention centers. This represents an estimated  $2.35 billion, or 87.4% of the known financing available to the biggest private prison companies, CoreCivic and GEO Group, making it more difficult for these companies to have the financing they need to run private detention centers that cage our communities.

Through our shared struggle and collective action, we have won real change, even with a demagogue in the White House. We must continue winning victories that have real impact on people’s lives, on the respect they receive, on their health, education, and futures. [That’s what you help our network of partners and allies to achieve, and why we need your continued generosity.]([link removed])

As 2019 closes, I can look back on our work with pride. It’s clear that we can hold corporations accountable for their actions. While there is much to celebrate, we must remain steadfast in our fight to keep families together and ensure our communities have the freedom to thrive. We can’t stop here. We won’t stop here. The future of our country depends on bold action from each of us. [What side of history will you be on? Support this critical work by making a donation today.]([link removed])

In solidarity,
