Team -- it’s a summer Friday and I know you probably don’t want to be checking email right now. But I had to reach out before the weekend starts, because on Sunday we’ll close the books on another month of The American SOS Project, and after that we really enter the home stretch to Election Day.

But what’s at stake on November 8th isn’t about any one race or any one candidate. It’s about our entire democracy.

That’s not an exaggeration. What we know -- because they’ve said it loud and clear -- is that Donald Trump’s path to a second term in the White House runs directly through this November’s secretary of state races. And we also know that because these races fly under the radar, they can be won or lost on small budgets -- sometimes as low as a couple hundred thousand dollars.

Now I’m not saying that’s not a lot of money, but I know for a fact that if we work together, this grassroots team can raise it ten times over. And look, if we’re willing to put it all on the line to try to defeat Mitch McConnell (God knows I was!), we’ve got to do the same thing right now. Because the stakes are even higher.

So for the next three months, I’m going to be asking you to fight alongside me with whatever you’ve got. The American SOS Project is shifting into full gear: We’re running ads, we’re narrowing down our final target states, and we’re getting ready to leave it all on the field come November. But we can’t get the job done without your support -- so please, chip in $5, $15, or whatever you can before we close the books on July:
