STATEMENTS

Supreme Court Decision

Gun Control

January 6th Committee

The series of televised public hearings held by the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol that began last month concluded July 21st and are expected to start up again in September. Click here to see reactions from Congress on the committee's actions.

International Relations

This month, President Biden met with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico at the White House to discuss relations between their countries. Russia and Ukraine

Fighting within the borders of Ukraine has continued into July as the Russian and Ukrainian military forces clash. On July 20th, Ukraine's first lady Olena Zelenska addressed the U.S. Congress and asked for additional weapons to defend the country. The day prior, she met with Jill Biden at the White House to discuss the effects of the war on the Ukrainian people, with particular attention paid to the suffering of women and children. North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

On July 18th, the U.S. House passed a resolution expressing support for the sovereign decision of Finland and Sweden to apply to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as well as calling on all members of NATO to ratify the protocols of accession swiftly.
