Changes to the Highway Code

Changes to the Highway Code came into force on 29 January. For the official updates, please find them here.

Updates on mobile phone use

From Friday 25 March rules in The Highway Code came into force making any hand-held use of a mobile phone while driving illegal, except in limited circumstances. See the updates here.

Nottingham bus and tram travellers can now bulk-buy individual days of multi-operator travel following the launch of the Robin Hood Flexible Days travel card!

Rail services 🚆

⚠🚨Strike action🚨⚠

Rail strike to cause disruption on 30 July and into the morning of Sunday 31 July. Operators at Nottingham Station may not be directly affected, however services may be busier as a result. Connecting Southeastern services serving any of Kent, East Sussex or south-east London stations will not run. 

For information on how strikes may affect you, check your journey with your operator.

Engineering works🚧

Northern: 

  • Leeds - Sheffield - Nottingham: 30/31 July. Replacement buses will run between Sheffield - Nottingham. Please check Northern's website for more service information.
  • Leeds – Nottingham: 6/7 July. Trains will be diverted via Wakefield Westgate and will not call at Wakefield Kirkgate and Barnsley. Buses will be provided between Leeds/Wakefield Kirkgate and Barnsley.

Bus services🚌

There might be disruption to services due to driver availability issues. Please check service providers for the most up to date information. 

All operators in the city continue to clean vehicles thoroughly on a regular basis, and windows on buses will be kept open for ventilation.

  • Use contactless payment methods where possible
  • Keep wearing a face covering
  • Please keep windows open on buses
  • Carry hand sanitizer with you to use regularly
  • Plan ahead - avoid peak hours and routes

Tram services 🚋

NET are undertaking maintenance works on their network replacing the tracks located at the Hyson Green tram stop between 27 July - 7 August.

  • No tram service between Wilkinson Street and The Forest in both directions.

Wireless Charging of Electric Taxis (WiCET) on Trent Street

Construction has begun on Trent Street to trial new wireless charging for electric taxis! Five wireless charging ground pads are being installed in the coming weeks. As part of the trial, taxi drivers will be able to use the wireless charging to top up during the day.

Due to a road traffic collision, Lady Bay Bridge is only open in one direction from Meadow Lane to Radcliffe Road so that the bridge can be repaired.

Monday 21 February 2022 - Wednesday 31 August 2022: Silverdale roundabout
Lane closures on Silverdale roundabout and approaches from the A52 and A453 for National Highways junction improvements.
