This Week: At A Glance

Monday, Rep. Beth Van Duyne (TX-28) highlighted the very real consequences of open border policies which incentivize mass illegal migration. Last month, an additional six illegal immigrants apprehended at our southern border were on the terrorist watch list, bringing the total to 56 in FY22. Tuesday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (TN) featured WFW-endorsed candidate Jen Kiggans (VA-02) on her podcast Freedom Rings.

Axios: U.S. economy shrinks for second straight quarter, igniting recession fears.

The highly anticipated report is likely to fan new debate about the faltering economy and adds to the Biden administration's mounting political headaches. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve is moving to slow economic growth in a bid to contain sky-high inflation.

Newsmax: Biden's Poll Numbers Alarm Democrats as November Midterms. According to a new Quinnipiac University survey, just 31% of respondents approve of Biden's performance as president, which is an all-time low for the national poll and is down considerably from his February 2021 high of 50%.

AP News: US economy shrinks for a 2nd quarter, raising recession fear. The U.S. economy shrank from April through June for a second straight quarter, contracting at a 0.9% annual pace and raising fears that the nation may be approaching a recession.

Fox News: Haley opposes major computer chips bill: 'We don’t need to be China to beat China’.  Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is opposing a major bipartisan bill aimed at boosting the U.S. semiconductor industry, arguing that the way to beat China is through innovation -- and not via "corporate handouts."
