John – Just wanted to make sure you saw my previous email. The FDA is accepting public comments on its proposal to eliminate menthol cigarettes. The comment period closes on Tuesday (8/2). We need the FDA to get as many supportive comments as possible, and sending a comment only takes a minute through our online form. Here's the link: tfk.org/menthol.

Once you submit a comment, please share the action page with your networks!

Subject: Tell the FDA you support eliminating menthol cigarettes!

ACTION ALERT

John,

On April 28, the FDA issued a proposed rule to prohibit menthol cigarettes. Now, the FDA is seeking public comments on this rule. The deadline is August 2.

The FDA's plan to eliminate menthol cigarettes is historic and long overdue. It will protect kids, advance health equity and save lives – especially among Black Americans and other populations that have been targeted by the tobacco industry and suffered enormous harm from the predatory marketing of these minty, sweet-flavored starter products.

We must make sure the FDA knows that eliminating menthol cigarettes has broad support and that we expect them to issue a final rule ASAP.

The FDA is required to review all public comments before issuing a final rule, so your voice can make a difference!

We've made it easy, creating a form that automatically submits your comment directly to the FDA.

Tell the FDA you support eliminating menthol cigarettes! Submit an official comment on their proposed rule >>

The tobacco industry is doing everything it can to kill this rule and continue selling menthol cigarettes – which are more addictive, easier for kids to start, and harder for smokers to quit. They're mobilizing their forces to submit comments full of disinformation. It's up to us to counter the industry.

Thanks for your advocacy,

Amy Barkley
Director of Federal Field Operations
