Dear Friend,
I’ve experienced homelessness. My parents struggled to just get by; some bad decisions and struggles with alcoholism created ongoing financial stresses. By my early twenties, I was turning to alcohol to blunt the pain of my own broken marriage. My life fell apart and I was couch-surfing with friends even while I had a low-paying job.
I got help, with housing and substance use treatment, and I found a calling in making this help available to others struggling with homelessness. Homelessness is not a character failing; it’s a failure of our nation’s policies and priorities.
Join me in ending homelessness by supporting our work at the National Coalition for the Homeless. Your gift will bring together national, state, and local organizations who know how to end homelessness to demand increased public investment in housing and the services people need to overcome homelessness.
With your help, we can demand immediate action to help struggling families avoid and end homelessness. Please, give generously.
