Even if you enjoyed last week’s heatwave, those were scary temperatures.

Our latest legal victory couldn’t have come at a more important time. I’ve got more on that below in case you missed the amazing news. But if you have a few spare minutes, could you answer some questions first?

The announcement of the next energy price rise is coming soon. So even though there might be more scorchers to come, we need your help preparing for the colder months ahead.

WHO'S MOST AFFECTED BY EXTREME HEAT?

Last week's record-breaking temperatures left most of us feeling a bit uncomfortable. But some of us will be hit harder by extreme heat than others as the climate crisis worsens.

Our latest research identifies the neighbourhoods across England set to be worst affected. Communities with high numbers of older people or children are amongst those most at risk from the health impacts of soaring temperatures, as are those without access to green space.

Last week we celebrated an incredible win on a key court case against the UK government over one of its flawed climate policies. In a landmark victory, a judge ruled that the Net Zero Strategy is unlawful [1].

Now the government’s got to revise its strategy and lay out a credible plan for meeting emissions targets by 31 March 2023. It’s huge news.

IS IT TIME TO RETHINK ECONOMICS?

An example of this topsy-turvy system comes from Slovenia. Where national laws meant that UK-based Ascent Resources needed an environmental impact assessment before it could start commercially fracking. Ascent didn't want to do one. Its fracking plans were put on hold. And now Ascent is suing Slovenia for a reported 120 million euros in lost earnings.
