The fight to ban phthalates is far from over.
***********************************************************
Dear Friend,
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently closed the comment period on its decisions to allow ongoing use of phthalates in food packaging and food production equipment. 24,000 Earthjustice supporters told the FDA it has a responsibility to ban all uses of toxic phthalates that lead to contamination of our food.
The evidence that phthalates in food are making us sick is overwhelming, making the FDA’s persistent inaction disheartening.
But this is why Earthjustice exists — we hold government agencies accountable to the law and the science, and we’ll keep doing that as long as they fail to comply. Your engagement is a crucial part of this process, as it signals to the FDA that the public is demanding action to protect our health from toxic chemicals.
We will keep you posted when there are updates on this subject. Sometimes it can take many months for the FDA to move forward in the regulatory process, but we’re counting on you to show up again when the time comes. In the meantime, you can continue your advocacy to keep toxics out of our bodies by urging the EPA to ban organophosphates, a class of neurotoxic pesticides.
TAKE ACTION: [link removed]
Sincerely,
Katherine O'Brien
Senior Attorney
