“Consensus” Can Be Tyranny

Consensus

 general agreement : UNANIMITY

sounds like a good thing, but anymore I grow suspicious whenever I hear the word.  For one thing, we live in a world where it can be made to appear to exist when it does not.  Further, it can be, and often is, coerced.  Just reading through the news this morning I can find any number of examples.

Let’s start in the world of research into Alzheimer’s disease. 

Our Democracy Problem?!

The host spent substantial time on Monday’s show ranting about the transparent ignorance in a Colbert clip he tweeted out over the weekend.  In the clip, Colbert and Chris Hayes discuss the 1/6 hearings as if they were a new development in democracy, absent all the messy, and untelegenic, debate and argument.  Their comments, as the host noted quite energetically, ignore the fact that our system is adversarial by design and that the absence of such adversity renders this committee inherently undemocratic.  The host described the clip as he presented it on Twitter as “unintentionally, quite revealing.”

Which leaves me to wonder if
