Hi, there — My name is Jeremiah, and I’m Tom’s Social Impact Director.
Tom and I have been working together to support HBCUs for the past two years. In 2018, Tom invested $1 million through the #BlackLivesRising program that focused on registering, training, and providing paid opportunities for HBCU students. This work helped inform the powerful HBCU platform I’m excited to share with you today.
I’m particularly excited to share some highlights from our plan:
- $125 billion investment
- HBCU innovation centers and community impact partnerships
- Full support of HBCU legislation and leadership
As a first-generation college student, I suffered from a lack of opportunities, struggled to pay my rent, and often went hungry because of the financial difficulties many HBCU students like me endure. As a proud alumnus of Johnson C. Smith University, an HBCU serving the African American community since 1867, I made a pledge to fight for students like myself and have advocated for HBCUs throughout my career because they’re an important pipeline for African American success.
Go JCSU Bulls!
Jeremiah
