This new Trump rule will seriously harm Washington families relying on food stamps for no reason. No one should go hungry in the United States at any time of year, but especially not during the season of giving.

The saying goes, to judge a country's prosperity, look not at the riches of the wealthy, but at the standard of living for those who have the least. And right now, the wealthiest nation on the planet has a president who wants to cut nutrition assistance from the families who need help the most.
Amid the holiday season, it's hard to imagine anything more cruel than taking away these basic benefits. Like the character from A Christmas Carol, Donald Trump is turning into a real-life Ebenezer Scrooge.
Trump's new rule for SNAP is harmful for families in need. Already lawmakers across the country are planning to protest the administration's latest change to SNAP. Sign Suzan's petition today to help us save this crucial program during the season of giving.
Food insecurity is plaguing our nation and here in Washington we are no strangers to this growing problem. Right now, over 900,000 Washington residents benefit from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Of those recipients, John, nearly half are working families and a majority of SNAP participants are members of families with children.
We can't leave these families behind. After Trump and Congressional Republicans cut taxes for corporations and the wealthiest among us by billions of dollars with their 2017 plan, there are ample ways to balance the books without hurting starving families.
