JOHN, You may have noticed last week that the House voted on a simple bill to recognize an individual’s right to access and use contraception (H.R. 8373). The bill defined contraception as any action taken to prevent pregnancy, “including the use of contraceptives (i.e., a device or medication used to prevent pregnancy), fertility-awareness based methods, and sterilization procedures.” And, you may have guessed without looking at the vote, that our so-called “Pro-Life” Congresswoman Ann Wagner voted NO on this targeted, limited policy to guarantee access to vital methods of family planning—which over 78% of Americans support. Unplanned pregnancies can lead to serious hardship, not just for women and families who may not be ready to bring a child into the world, but for the babies themselves. The best thing we can do to reduce the abortion rate is to help prevent unplanned pregnancies by making sure every person has access to basic contraceptives and reproductive healthcare. But Wagner isn’t interested in doing any of that. She votes how she is told to vote by the only people she answers to: extremist groups on the Right that want to roll back social progress and freedom. I will only ever answer to the people of my district. And they favor common sense policies, like access to contraception, and believe government should do more to support mothers and children. That’s why I am fighting to unseat Ann Wagner. But I absolutely need your help to do it. Our primary election is on Tuesday, and it will be the first test of our strength against Wagner in the fall. I want to make sure we send the message that she is in for a surprise in November—so if you can make a contribution to this campaign before Tuesday, it would help us so much: If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Thank you so much for your support, and here's to a big win on Tuesday and beyond! In Gratitude,
