We’re on the verge of a major climate and economic deal in the Senate, folks. The New York Times is calling it the “most ambitious action ever taken by the United States” in the fight to take on climate change.

The Inflation Reduction Act is exactly what this moment calls for — lowering everyday costs for Americans today and protecting the planet for our children and the generations of tomorrow at the same time.

The media is calling this a “surprise” deal. But it didn’t happen out of nowhere. I’ve been fighting to pass climate policy since I first got into politics on the Albuquerque City Council in 2004. And in recent months Senate Democrats and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have pushed hard to reach a deal that addresses inflation, cuts energy costs for families, curbs carbon emissions, lowers prescription drug costs, expands access to affordable healthcare, and more.

We’re so close to taking once-in-a-generation action to combat climate change. And this never would have happened without you. Now, we have to keep this momentum going to make sure this gets across the finish line.

Can you chip in $10 or any amount to power our movement? Every dollar will go toward protecting the Senate majority and electing climate champions at every level of government.

I’ve been passionate about clean energy long before I became an elected official. Back in college I designed and built a carbon fiber solar-powered car called the “Sun Tiger” with my engineering classmates and raced it across the United States:

My sons would say this was way back in the ‘90s — I’m sure my hair gave that away!

These days I’m working in the Senate to make clean energy accessible to everyone. Our infrastructure bill is creating a nationwide network of electric vehicle chargers, and the bill we’re working to pass now includes a rebate program mirroring my Zero-Emission Homes Act to support families as they electrify their homes and put money back in their pockets at the same time.

We’re finally rounding the corner on necessary climate action. We can’t slow down now. Pitch in anything you can to power this critical work at every level of government:
