Yesterday, Senator Joe Manchin reversed course on his opposition to climate legislation and announced he would support a $369 billion climate and tax package that includes major investments to fight climate change.

This is a major step forward for the climate movement, but we need even bolder policy to avoid climate catastrophe.

Senator Manchin’s reversal only came about because of immense pressure from people across the country who care deeply about solving the climate crisis. From the recent protests in Washington by congressional staff to the outpouring grassroots support for organizations like ours, the people are making it clear that inaction on climate change won’t be tolerated.

The bill includes measures to cut carbon emissions and ramp up tax incentives for investments in wind, solar, and other renewable and clean energy industries over the next few years.
