Dear John,
The EPA has released its revised Clean Water Act Section 404(c) Proposed Determination ([link removed]) for Bristol Bay – home to the world’s largest wild salmon fishery - with a set of proposed restrictions and prohibitions that would help stop the Pebble Mine. The EPA is holding a 40-day public comment period for its Proposed Determination through September 6th. This comment period will be our last chance to publicly weigh in during the EPA’s 404(c) process.
American Sustainable Business Network is teaming up with Businesses for Bristol Bay and The Conservation Alliance on a national business sign-on letter to the EPA ([link removed]) , urging the EPA to put durable Clean Water Act protections in place for Bristol Bay by the end of 2022. Will you and your business join us in this final push to stop the Pebble Mine? Deadline to sign our national letter to the EPA is Tuesday, September 6.
In addition to adding your name to ASBN’s sign-on letter, you can help by spreading the word and encouraging your network to submit a comment letter to the EPA. We need to make it clear to the EPA that Americans value and depend on Bristol Bay’s sustainable wild salmon runs - Bristol Bay is an irreplaceable source of sustainable seafood, renewable jobs, and annual income. Please reach out if you need any assistance.
Thank you for helping make sure the business community is heard during the EPA’s comment period. Your voices will be critical to securing long-term protections for Bristol Bay in 2022.
For more information check out this article ([link removed]) by the EPA, ASBN’s statement ([link removed]) about the Department of Interior, and ASBN’s press release ([link removed]) applauding the EPA’s decision to pursue economically beneficial science-based protections for Bristol Bay.
