For generations, marijuana criminalization has been used to systemically target and terrorize communities of color.

Despite having similar usage rates, almost all possession arrests in NYC are of people of color.

That’s why I was proud to take the lead in passing my bill to decriminalize marijuana through the House.

This week, the Senate held a hearing on a version of my bill that would end the federal prohibition and criminalization of marijuana and create a federal framework of expungement and resentencing programs, support small businesses entering the legal marketplace, and promote public health, safety, veterans' healthcare, and worker rights.

The Senate needs to act to decriminalize marijuana. It’s popular across party lines, and we must atone for generations of racist drug policy. Add your name if you agree!

This bill not only decriminalizes marijuana at the federal level but also works to correct the racist enforcement associated with prohibition.

The criminalization of marijuana at the federal level has worked hand-in-hand with the War on Drugs. Black Americans have been disproportionately affected by selective enforcement of needless anti-marijuana laws, and it's now time to bring restorative justice to these communities.

Sign here to demand that the Senate decriminalize marijuana and take steps to fix the damage caused by the drug war!

Onward,

Jerry
