“The Supreme Court Lets Kentucky’s Anti-Abortion Transvaginal Ultrasound
Law Stand”
Slate, 12/9/19

“Today is a dark day.”

That was Planned Parenthood’s verdict yesterday after the Supreme Court
delivered a major blow to health care and reproductive rights.

At issue: an extreme anti-choice law in Kentucky, requiring doctors to
perform and describe ultrasounds on anyone seeking an abortion—even if the
patient objects. The Court decided to allow the law to stand.

The Kentucky decision represents a blatant infringement on the
doctor-patient relationship—and another dangerous step toward repealing
Roe v. Wade. With two Trump appointees, the Court is scheduled to hear
another anti-choice case early next year.

It has never been more crucial to strengthen the pro-choice movement and
elect pro-choice candidates.

[ [link removed] ]That’s why I’m asking you to split an urgent donation right now between
Planned Parenthood Action Fund and our campaign. The future of
reproductive health care in America depends on it.

Make no mistake: Kentucky’s law and others like it are meant to intimidate
and humiliate patients in need of abortion care. As a dissent in the
appellate court put it, Kentucky “co-opted physicians’ examining tables,
their probing instruments and their voices in order to espouse a political
message, without regard to the health of the patient or the judgment of
the physician.”

That’s outrageous. Politicians have no right to force patients to undergo
unnecessary, painful, and invasive procedures.

As Colorado’s next senator, I will oppose judges who refuse to uphold the
right to choose. But we can’t wait—we need to defend the pro-choice
movement right now.

[ [link removed] ]So please,
friend,
rush a donation to Planned Parenthood Action Fund and to our campaign.
Let’s put a stop to anti-choice extremism.
