John,
In this email, I'm going to ask you for a
$3 contribution to my campaign to unseat Ken Calvert. But first, I wanted to go over some data from our primary election that makes our chances of flipping this seat even more promising. It's a bit wonky, but I hope you'll give me a moment.
Here's the stat you probably know:
For the first time in over a decade, Calvert’s earned vote share in a primary election was well below 50%. Meanwhile, the combined Democratic share vote was within 2% of surpassing Calvert’s. That margin has never been so narrow, and it bodes well for November.
Here's where things get interesting:
There was another Republican candidate in our primary who earned nearly 5% of the vote. But this wasn't your average Donald Trump acolyte. This was a Republican who launched his campaign out of disgust with Calvert's attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.
It's not just Democrats who are through with Calvert. The numbers show that reasonable, democracy-loving Republicans are also looking for an alternative to the Trump-led extremism in today's GOP.
I want to earn their votes -- especially because they share our common goals of defending democracy, protecting the rule of law, and putting country over party:
We set a goal of raising $100,000 in online donations before the end of this month to fuel our outreach efforts. If you can, please chip in $3 or more today. Every dollar helps us inform voters that there's an alternative to Calvert's extremism.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thanks for hearing me out,
Will
