Tree planting in the Sundarbans with The Canopy Project

Hi,

July 28 marks World Nature Conservation Day, a day that highlights the need of a healthy planet for everyone. Our reforestation campaign, The Canopy Project, works tirelessly around the globe to plant trees in order to benefit the local communities and the world at large.

We are all feeling the heat this July and, while donating to The Canopy Project will not cool you off immediately, your gift can cool the entire planet. Forests and new tree growth have shown to reduce worldwide temperatures by 0.5 °C while sequestering large amounts of carbon.1

0.5°C may not seem impactful, but it goes a long way towards the current goal of the Paris Climate Agreement to keep temperatures from rising 1.5°C above pre-industrial temperatures.2 Rising worldwide temperatures are causing more hardship than ever before. With your donation, we can help mitigate these harmful changes with large scale tree plantings that benefit local communities.

Your donation will go towards a planting project like the one on the banks of Lake Tanganyika, the longest freshwater lake in the world. Our plantings around Lake Tanganyika and across the globe focus on tree plantings that engage the community in agricultural education programs, revenue generation by utilizing certain crop trees, and rehabilitation of local biodiversity. Further, these plantings work to reduce global temperatures and carbon emissions.

The Canopy Project works in and with communities that are most affected by climate change, but we need your help in getting these projects done. Your gift this World Nature Conservation Day supports our reforestation efforts and helps local people around the world nurture, educate, and provide for their families and communities.

Please help us by giving the gift of trees.

In solidarity,

Kathleen Rogers
President
