Hi John, it’s Ilhan Omar. I just joined Cori in Missouri to celebrate her birthday and get out the vote ahead of her primary next week, and she asked me to reach out at this critical moment to share what’s at stake.
Cori’s primary is only 5 days away, and her campaign is working day in and day out to reach voters where they’re at, defeat her four corporate-backed challengers, and overcome dark money groups’ last-minute attacks.
Cori has overcome massive outside spending before and won when she unseated a 20-year incumbent in 2020. She can defeat the status quo again, but unlike her challengers, she doesn’t have mega-donors to turn to when she’s falling behind on her fundraising goals. She relies 100% on people like you — never corporate PACs or special interests — to power her campaign.
What sets Cori apart from her challengers is that she knows what her community needs. She’s lived through so many of the struggles everyday people face — like being evicted or living paycheck to paycheck. She has experienced economic inequality firsthand and is determined every day to build a more just future for everyone. That’s why she’s such an effective legislator and organizer.
Cori has fought alongside me and our fellow progressives in Congress to codify abortion rights into federal law, guarantee housing as a human right, and move the needle on bold policies like Medicare for All and a Green New Deal.
When our colleagues in the House and Senate have failed to join us to take the action the moment calls for, she has been on the front lines demanding change — whether it’s rallying on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to successfully stop evictions or being arrested for protesting the radical conservative Supreme Court’s decision to strip away abortion rights from millions of people.
