The Salvation Army Serves During Pope's Visit to Alberta

This week, The Salvation Army was blessed to be a part of the events during Pope Francis' visit to the Edmonton area. On Monday, Army volunteers provided water and healthy snacks during the first event in Maskwacis, Alta., home to the former Ermineskin Residential School.

The next day, Army volunteers were at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, handing out more than 80,000 water bottles to those attending mass. At the Lac Ste. Anne pilgrimage, the Army provided relief on a hot, busy day with four water and snack stations, as well as a canteen in the staging area. Inside the shrine, snack bags and water were provided for each person in attendance, including survivors and their caregivers.
