I was shaking, breathing quickly, sweat was beading on my brow. My eyes never left the basket.

My name is Mia Camp, and I’ve been a part of Special Olympics for over 14 years, but I still remember making my first basket. I was so nervous because I wanted to impress my team and prove that I could make it — and guess what? I did!

I want every athlete with intellectual disabilities (ID) to experience the excitement, joy, and thrill of learning a new sport and becoming a part of a team just like I did. And I need your help.

We’re raising $50,000 before midnight on July 31 to help up-and-coming Special Olympics athletes get onto the court. If you pitch in today, your gift will be DOUBLED. What do you say? Can we count on you to make twice the impact? >>

You may wonder how your donation will make a difference to athletes in your state and around the world? Easy:

- $20 will turn into $40 — and put TWO basketballs into an athlete's hands.

Everyone is an up-comer, trying something new and scary at some point in their life or career. I’m so glad made that first basket and all the layups and jump shots I've taken since then. Each one taught me perseverance, teamwork, and follow-through.
