Economic Liberties and NCPA Present: How Pharmacy Benefit Managers Impact Drug Prices, Communities, and Patients
Featuring U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, Rep. Buddy Carter
& FTC Chair Lina Khan

Join the American Economic Liberties Project, the National Community Pharmacists Association, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Congressman Buddy Carter (GA-01), and Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan on Wednesday, June 22 at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT for a conversation with pharmacists, doctors, and patients to discuss Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). We’ll be discussing how the FTC’s new study of PBMs is a lifeline for everyone impacted by the monopoly power of the industry.
PBMs process pharmaceutical benefits for Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance plans. In theory, PBMs are meant to bargain down the price of drugs and to reimburse pharmacies for patients’ prescriptions. However, as states, health care providers, and patients have shown, the reality is more complicated, and deserving of scrutiny.
While lawmakers in every state are working to ban predatory practices by PBMs like spread pricing, claw-backs, and fraudulent pharmacy audits, it is important to tackle this national problem at the federal level as well.
