I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support from my family and friends, who are there on the very best days and on the toughest ones. They have my back, they pick me up when I need a hand, and they remind me every single day of what matters - from when I came out at age 18 to right now, as my wife, Meghann, and I juggle being working parents with three amazing kids while I’m running for Congress. Our friends and family are with us every step of the way.

This matters even more right now, because the reality right now is that families like mine are once again under attack by far-right extremists.

The Respect for Marriage Act just passed the House with resounding bipartisan support. But 147 House Republicans - including WNC’s current Congressman Madison Cawthorn - voted against the freedom to marry the person you love.

Let me be clear: an overwhelming majority of Americans support the freedom to marry. But a large flank of the Republican party insists on weaponizing religion and politics to try to strip rights away from people.

I’ll be damned if I let them get away with it. I’ve fought for my family, and I’ll fight for the families of WNC. That’s why it matters so much to have your support, especially now.

We’re running to defeat my opponent, extremist Chuck Edwards – who has the same toxic brand of politics as Cawthorn. This race is going to be very close, but we are on the path to winning.
