1) Education Becomes A Winning Issue For Republicans

We’ve said it many times on these pages; this is the school choice moment.

Parents – especially minority parents – are clearly revolting against lockdown governors, school boards, and their teacher union overlords.

The new poll by Morning Consult of battleground states shows that for the first time in anyone's memory, Democrats have lost the trust advantage they had with voters on education. Democrats had a 15-point edge on that question as recently as 2020. Now the GOP has a 4-point advantage.

With parents, the margin is 9 points and with minorities, the gap has increased by 10 points as parents revolt against school lockdowns, mask mandates, and "woke" classroom learning. (Only 25% of high school kids are required to take American history!)

The pandemic exposed for all to see that the government-run schools are for the teacher unions, not the kids.

2) Pandemic Of Denials: Fauci Denies Ever Calling For Lockdowns

Stay tuned: next, the teacher unions are going to say they weren’t for shutting down schools.

3) Biden Energy Strategy: Buy High Sell Low
Two years ago when oil prices were at bargain basement levels and a fraction of the current price, businessman President Trump wanted to fill the strategic reserve with oil at the low prices of about $20 a barrel.

Buy low. Great idea, right?

Congress said no. The left screamed that this was a “bailout for big oil.”

Now with the 500 million barrel reserve getting close to depletion (because Biden refuses to allow more domestic drilling), Biden’s Energy Department is entering into futures contracts to refill the reserve by buying oil at more than $85 a barrel. So Trump wanted to buy the oil at a low price and Biden wants to buy it at a high price. We have economic nitwits in charge in Washington. At a minimum, this Strategic Reserve policy is costing taxpayers $6 to $10 billion.

Even in Washington, that’s a lot of money.

4) Newsom V. DeSantis: Round Two
California Governor Gavin Newsom – who we rank one of the three worst governors in America – is clearly running for president. (Oh Lord, please make it happen!) So he keeps comparing California with Florida – which is like comparing Sir Lanka with Monte Carlo.

Newsom’s latest attempt to compare California with Florida comes from an ad touting his “job creating” record. But California still hasn’t even recovered all the jobs it lost from the pandemic lockdowns and the state ranks 24th on job recovery.

Florida ranks eighth in the percentage of jobs recovered.

Sounds to us like the people coming up with these ads learned their math in the California public schools.

By the way, under Newsom California is still in a state of COVID emergency and many cities are reimposing mandates and restrictions. DeSantis never shut down Florida.

5) The Bear Trap
