I had the honor of meeting Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this month.
I came away both inspired and even more committed to do everything I can to stop the Republicans from being in the majority in the next legislative session. VP Harris spoke and listened to our concerns at an intimate closed door roundtable about the Supreme Court decision to reverse Roe v Wade and how the PA majority party is working to ban abortion. Madam VP made it very clear that she knows what we are up against in our state.
The Republican majority has already passed the first bill calling for a constitutional amendment to take away a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions regarding abortion forever. Pennsylvania law requires a constitutional amendment to pass in two consecutive legislative sessions and then it would be put on the ballot in the Primary of 2023.
A Governor cannot veto this action.
The only opportunity we have to stop this, is to vote on November 8th. We must do this for the women and girls in our lives -our partners, Mothers, daughters, sisters, nieces and granddaughters. We cannot afford to wait.
The only option we have to stop this, is to become the majority party in the next legislative session. It's the only thing that will stop this madness.
We must register Democrats, get our family and friends signed up for mail in ballots (if that’s their preference), remind them to return those ballots and get out the vote in a big way. That could mean driving your neighbors to the polls, making phone calls for a candidate, canvassing or donating. We cannot be complacent and think that every Democrat is going to win. The urgency is real, the time to act is now.
Please mobilize - donate, volunteer, make calls, write postcards, do everything you can to flip this state. I promise you that in addition to my own race, I too will be working tirelessly with other candidates to do just that.
