It’s no secret: racial gerrymandering discriminates against voters of color in our country, violates the anti-discrimination protections guaranteed under the Voting Rights Act, and is a direct affront to our democracy.

But in Alabama, right-wing politicians are attempting to use the redistricting process to silence the voices of voters of color and solidify Republican power through gerrymandering. It’s unacceptable, and we’re not going to stand idly by.

I’m joining with a coalition of attorneys general to call on the U.S. Supreme Court to reject Alabama’s racially gerrymandered congressional map. If you’re with me, add your name >> [link removed]

The redistricting process should be a chance for us to take stock of our representation and ensure that all voices are being heard, fairly and equally.

But instead, Alabama is proposing a map that gives Black voters barely half as much representation in Congress as compared to the Alabama population.

And this isn’t the first time: Republicans have a history of attempting to amass power through extreme gerrymandering that leaves too many without real representation in our government. And we know that when that happens, we end up with policy that leaves people behind.
