Dear John,
I feel really good about where we are in this campaign.
At 79,000 people and growing, we’ve got the biggest volunteer organizing
team in the country right now. And these volunteers are already at the
doors of Texas voters, building relationships and connecting with those
who will decide the outcome of this election.
Our digital team is leveraging our social media presence to reach voters —
especially young voters — with the messages that give them a reason to
care about and vote in this election. It’s also been a powerful
recruitment tool to bring in new volunteers.
And Abbott continues to make the case for why he can’t be trusted with
another term in office. Whether it’s the grid, the attacks on teachers,
the failure to end gun violence, or the outright banning of reproductive
freedom in Texas with no exceptions for rape or incest, he’s given Texas
voters — Republicans as well as Democrats — plenty of reasons to vote for
change.
The only place where I know we could be doing even better is fundraising.
While we outraised Abbott in the last reporting period with more than
500,000 contributions, showing the strength of our grassroots donors, we
started this race more than $50 million behind. Abbott continues to have
more money in the bank. I really need us to redouble our commitment to
meeting the very ambitious fundraising goals we’ve set if we’re going to
have the resources to win.

making a significant donation to this campaign. I need to make sure that
we maximize the momentum we have, the progress we’re making and this
extraordinary chance before us to win.
