 # [#] John, have you been keeping up with John’s recent emails? In case you’ve missed it, August will mark the 87th anniversary of America’s Social Security program. Nearly 150,000 of John’s CT-01 constituents benefit from Social Security, as do over 65 million Americans nationwide.

John dedicates so much of his career to defending and expanding this program, but GOP leaders are trying to strip away this nationally beneficial program.

If you can, donate now to help John in his efforts to protect you, your family, and your neighbors from the Republican plan to do away with Social Security altogether. [[link removed]] Then read on to view John’s message>>>

- John’s Original Message -

John,

Social Security was created in 1935 — initially serving just under one million people through Unemployment Insurance, Aid to Dependent Children, and Old Age and Survivors Pensions.

Today, more than 65 million Americans benefit from the program, but Social Security is in trouble . More than half of today’s retirees are dependent on Social Security as a steady source of income. But Senator Rick Scott (FL) — who's in charge of the Senate Republicans' campaign strategy — has a plan to gut the program or even cut it altogether.

I’m still short of my goal to raise $8,700 before the 87th anniversary of Social Security saving millions of lives and livelihoods in America.

I’m asking you to donate $6.50 right now to represent the 65 million Americans who benefit from Social Security every day and to help Social Security remain intact now and for future generations>>> [[link removed]]DONATE $6.50 [[link removed]]

I continue to dedicate my career to defending the existence of Social Security — it benefits virtually everyone!

The Republican plan to take away Social Security is especially harmful to today’s workers who have consistently paid Social Security Tax but may never see a dime of that money.

Everyone deserves to retire with financial stability. Unfortunately, Unfortunately, Republican Sen. Rick Scott disagrees. He's the head of the GOP's campaign strategy in the Senate, and under his plan, "All federal legislation sunsets in 5 years” — INCLUDING SOCIAL SECURITY.

Taking away Social Security would harm everyone: our friends, our family, and our neighbors. We need to act now: Donate now to help me reach my goals of raising $8,700 and continue my fight to keep Social Security for all Americans. [[link removed]]DONATE [[link removed]]

Thanks,

John
