Team,
Years ago, when a male legislator told me that I couldn’t make a difference because I was “just a mom in tennis shoes,” I didn’t let that stop me from fighting for my community and going on to serve as the first woman – and first mom – representing Washington state in the U.S. Senate.

I have always strongly believed that decisions about pregnancy and parenting should be between a woman and her doctor – and no one else. I have stood up to defend this right since I was first elected. The Washington Post recently referred to me as “the single most effective Democratic combatant against Republican attempts to restrict abortion” – and that’s a distinction I’ll gladly keep fighting to live up to.
|
Team, as long as I’m in the U.S. Senate, I promise to be at the forefront of the fight for abortion rights. But I’m up for reelection this fall and I need your support. Will you split $5 between me and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen right now to help protect abortion access?
|
As the senior Senator from Washington state and chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, I go to work every day in the other Washington to fight for families like yours and make sure your voices are heard, and the fight to protect a woman’s ability to make her own health care decisions is no exception. Republicans don’t like me for just that reason – and that’s why they’re targeting Washington state as a seat to flip this November.
We’ve got to elect a pro-choice Senate majority who will stand up to the extreme Republicans and Supreme Court justices who are inserting themselves into private medical decisions.

Please, contribute whatever you can to help Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and me continue this fight.
|
Thank you for your support,
Patty Murray
