From April to June this year -- a span of just three months -- members of the House collectively raised more than $200 million for their re-election campaigns. This raises the question: “How are members able to raise that much money and do their jobs?”
Here's the dirty truth: When the House is in session, members - both Republicans and Democrats - spend thousands of hours courting donors on the taxpayer's dime. Time that should be spent drafting legislation, attending committee meetings, and voting is spent dialing for dollars. It's gross.
Soliciting money from big out-of-state donors and special interests undermines the integrity of the job.
That's why I don't take a dime from PACs or other members of Congress and I don't pander to special interest groups. I'm here to represent the will of the people of Minnesota's 3rd District, and I hold that responsibility with great honor.
