This is a longer email than usual, so I hope you have a few minutes to read it today.

It has now been a month since the U.S. Supreme Court dragged the country backward by overturning Roe v. Wade, ripping reproductive health care away from millions of Americans.

In just a month, we have heard horrifying stories from across the country.

A 10-year-old rape victim was forced to travel to Ohio from Indiana to get an abortion, and a national anti-abortion group argued that the 10-year-old should have been forced to give birth.

At least 13 states across the country have banned abortion, with more to follow in the weeks and months ahead.

And, even in our state, Oregon Right to Life is already working on a bill for the 2023 legislative session to ban abortions later in pregnancy.

Abortion is health care. The attacks will not stop coming any time soon, and Governors are the last line of defense for reproductive rights. I am not backing down.

I’m proud to be the only candidate running for governor endorsed by Pro-Choice Oregon and Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon.

My opponents cannot be trusted on this important issue. Former Senator Betsy Johnson is facing new criticism after the Willamette Week resurfaced a video by the head of “Republicans for Betsy” stating that on the issue of abortion, Johnson is “virtually identical” to Oregon Right to Life-endorsed candidate Christine Drazan.

Meanwhile, Republican candidate Christine Drazan is deeply out of touch with the majority of Oregonians on the issue of abortion. Drazan celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and told OPB that she would have vetoed the state’s landmark Reproductive Health Equity Act in 2017.

As your next Governor, I will unequivocally protect the right for anyone — regardless of where they live, their age, gender, race, income level, or the manner in which they became pregnant — to receive abortion care in Oregon.

We determine our future when we vote this November. And I am asking you to join me in the fight.
