As a mother to two great kids, affordable child care was always top of mind when they were young and my husband and I needed to work. Families across the district are still struggling with rising prices at the pump, in the grocery store, with healthcare and even school supplies… and child care is no different.
The Build Back Better initiative introduced by President Biden originally included $400 billion of new funding that would go toward supporting families who needed a little extra financial support to care for their children. However, child care now finds itself out of the Reconciliation Bill discussion altogether. This is both unimaginable and short-sighted.
In Westchester and the Bronx, child care is the biggest bill in the household and we can’t create a system that supports safe, quality child care without federal investment.
SUPPORT CHILD CARE BY ELECTING A WOMAN TO THE HOUSE
That’s why as your congresswoman, I will fight hard to bring funding child care services into the mainstream. Prioritizing child care with at least $200 billion of new funding, as suggested by Senators Murray and Kaine, to support our working parents, their children, and our economic future.
IT’S TIME TO SEND A WOMAN TO THE HOUSE TO FIGHT FOR OUR FAMILIES
