As a mom, I know that parents are their children’s first and most important teacher, and when parents and schools are close partners, kids thrive. That’s why on July 15, I established the Michigan Parents’ Council. This state-level council will consist of seven parents or family members from across Michigan, and host a series of roundtables with parents in every region of the state to gather input and recommendations for Michigan’s next education budget.
Applications for the Michigan Parents’ Council are due August 8. Please consider applying if you are:
-
A parent or family member with children in early childhood learning programs, elementary, middle, and/or high school
-
A parent or family member with students who have an Individualized Education Plan or Individualized Service Plan, who speak English as a second language, or who are in foster or kinship care
In addition to the Michigan Parents’ Council, my team is looking for Michiganders to serve as appointees on several other boards and commissions. If you are interested in viewing more opportunities or applying to the Michigan Parents’ Council or another position, please click the button below or visit our website.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Whitmer Governor of Michigan
