Friend, California voters are feeling the heat. Up and down the state, we’re grappling with drought conditions, wildfires, extreme heat, and other catastrophic weather events that are more deadly and more commonplace than ever before. Fires are even reaching coastal communities like Laguna Niguel! So it comes as no surprise that our recent polling showed that the environment was a top concern for California voters. There is also substantial support in all regions for things like zero-emission and electric vehicles: |

EnviroVoters Ed Fund and Tulchin Research polled voters in five California battleground regions this spring — North Los Angeles County, Orange County, the Central Valley, Coastal San Diego, and the Sierra – and the June Primary Election results only further confirmed our findings. Friend, here are some toplines from the polling: - 79% of North LA County voters support expanding and protecting California’s public lands.
- In Orange County, 60% of voters are ready to end oil drilling.
- Central Valley voters overwhelmingly support conserving water and strengthening safe drinking laws (89%).
- Coastal San Diego voters have exceedingly favorable views of clean energy, especially solar power (86%) and electric vehicles (75%).
- Sierra voters support policies that increase wildfire protection (83%) and protect, restore, and expand public lands (76%).
This polling makes it abundantly clear that Californians in every region of the state feel the dangers of the climate crisis close to their homes and understand that extreme environmental impacts can only be slowed down by moving away from fossil fuels. Weak responses and delays only put our health, lives and livelihoods at risk as these threats become more intense, frequent, and destructive. Friend, here’s the good news: We have the policy solutions. What we are missing is the political power to implement them at the rate and scale that’s needed. The urgency on climate could not be more immediate. Fortunately, we have an opportunity for these concerns highlighted in the polling to be heard: at the ballot box. So friend, I encourage you to check out our polling results and confirm your voter registration status for the November election >> |

Californians know that it’s time for our leaders to step up big time and show the way. We cannot afford to wait. |
