John, new research shows that the United States is on track to fall short of our climate goals. According to analysts from the Rhodium Group, it’s likely we will only reduce emissions by 25 to 35 percent in 2030 — instead of the 50 to 52 percent we committed to under the Paris Agreement.
That difference in emission reduction percentages really matters. Reducing emissions at a higher rate sooner can prevent truly destructive climate catastrophes — literally putting years back on the clock. And the longer we wait, the harder and more expensive it will be to fight back.
Still, there is hope: Rhodium only analyzes *existing* climate policy and does not fully explore what might happen if we were able to pass Biden’s full slate of climate policies. Passing these policies gives us a real chance to get back on track and meet our goals.
Manchin, and some of his friends on the other side of the aisle, talk a good game about how important addressing climate change is or the need to build out clean energy. But we’re past the point of talking. Now’s the moment to act.
SEEC members will not allow political obstruction to hold up real climate action. The researchers at Rhodium have proven that if we don’t pass additional policies, we are in danger of falling extremely short of our goals come 2030. That may seem a long way off, but to certain Democrats and many Republicans, it’s not that long.
They’ll stall for a decade if it means they can defeat comprehensive action on climate.
That’s why we need your support now, to help us elect environmentally-minded advocates to Congress and to support the SEEC members who are already doing this work. Will you contribute now, John, and help get America back on track to meet our goals? [[link removed]]

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
