We’ve spent a lot of time highlighting the absolutely bonkers stuff that Lauren Boebert and her “burn it all down” Right-wing allies say and promote. And for good reason—we should never give up the ideal that the people who represent us in Congress should be both intelligent and compassionate, not ignorant and mean.

It’s hard to imagine someone more ignorant or hateful than Boebert. But there’s a much more compelling purpose behind sharing her outrageous and dangerous rhetoric: her words, attitude, and behavior have a massively destructive impact in our broken political system.

According to a new poll from the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, nearly a third of the respondents say it may soon be necessary to take up arms against the government; among just Republicans, that number rises to 35%.

Boebert, in fact, does not carry her Glock around while walking the halls of the Capitol. She just wants the MAGA base to stay angry, to think that she is tough, and that she is fighting America's real enemies: Democrats, liberals, and childless women who own cats. (Indeed, a very threatening bunch...)

We will never stop countering Boebert, fighting back, and organizing. But this is about so much more than just Lauren Boebert; it is about what we accept as normal in politics.
