A personal message from Terri Sewell:
Team, I’m a 3rd generation Selmian. The history and struggles of my hometown course through my DNA and impact every facet of my being.
My grandfather labored as a sharecropper, never letting his family want for anything and always ensuring the best for his children.
My parents stood firm for years in the face of a segregated society — and the spirit of my mother, who was elected as the first Black woman to serve on the Selma City Council, continues to fuel my dedication to public service.
Each generation in my family has built on the progress and sacrifices of those who paved the way.
I’ve never forgotten where I came from — and I am grateful every day for the sacrifices of the Foot Soldiers of the Voting Rights Movement. I have Selma to thank for molding me into the person I am today.
I’m proud to fight every day in Congress to build on the progress that has come before me, and I am more emboldened than ever to keep fighting for a brighter future.
As we are witnessing old battles become new again, we have to keep pushing for progress. So I’m asking: will you chip in right now to my campaign and help me fight for the people of Alabama’s Black Belt?
Chip in now >> [[link removed]]
Together,
Terri Sewell
